September 30, 2026 | Taipei and Taoyuan, Taiwan
As part of its continued efforts to learn from international approaches to aging and senior living, the Kalma Villas team joined the official Pre-Event Site Visit of Cares Expo Taipei 2026 on September 30, 2026, ahead of the exhibition’s opening at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center.
Organized as part of Cares Expo Taipei 2026, the site visit brought together senior living and long-term care operators from across the Asia-Pacific region to explore Taiwan’s diverse care models and exchange insights on service delivery, staffing, rehabilitation, and approaches to supporting older adults.
The program featured visits to three distinct care providers: Kainan Day Care Center in Taipei, Hygge Healthcare in Taoyuan, and Liang Liang Day Care Center in Taipei. Each offered a different perspective on how care services can respond to the evolving needs of an aging population.
At Kainan Day Care Center, participants explored a community-based model operating within an active school campus, demonstrating how existing spaces can be adapted to support older adults.

The visit to Hygge Healthcare provided an opportunity to examine rehabilitation-focused residential care, specialized nursing, and the application of internationally informed care practices within the Taiwanese context.

Meanwhile, Liang Liang Day Care Center showcased a small-scale, multifunctional approach that combines day care and overnight stays with flexible companion and respite care services.
Together, the visits offered participants a closer look at Taiwan’s continuum of care, from community-based support to residential care. Discussions with representatives from the three organizations also provided opportunities to learn more about their respective approaches and consider insights that may be relevant to senior living and long-term care development across the region.
For Kalma Care Inc., the experience offered a valuable opportunity to broaden its understanding of international care practices as it works toward establishing Kalma Villas, a Filipino Heritage Retirement Living development in Silang, Cavite.
Envisioned as a place where older adults can maintain an active, independent, and connected lifestyle, Kalma Villas is being developed with a continuum of living and care in mind. Learning from different models across the region contributes to the ongoing exploration of approaches that can support residents’ changing needs while remaining responsive to the Filipino context.
The pre-event visit also set the stage for further conversations at Cares Expo Taipei 2026, held from October 1 to 3, and the third Asia-Pacific Care Industry Forum on October 2. These gatherings brought together stakeholders from across the care industry to discuss emerging approaches to integrated medical and care services, long-term care, wellness, and care technology.
As Kalma Care Inc. continues laying the groundwork for Kalma Villas’ anticipated opening in 2027, opportunities to engage with international practices and perspectives remain an important part of understanding how retirement living can evolve to better serve older adults and their families in the Philippines.
